Storm Damage

Swaying in the meadow
the little flower beamed.
She blossomed from the Earth
to where the sunshine beamed.

She noticed all the beauty
that surrounded her.
Thriving in the here and now
unaware her world would soon blur.

One day as that little flower marveled
a storm rolled in.
This was to be a horrific battle
she sadly could not win.

As the rain kept pouring down,
slashing at her until it stung,
her tiny head got so heavy
that instead of beam, it just hung.

The storms would come and go
and birds would return to the sky.
But the poor weighted flower
still hung her head and cried.

She couldn't notice the beauty
any longer in that field.
She was soaked with a sadness.
To the misery she could no longer yield.

The tiny flower's soul
withered up inside.
She now dreamed of pulling up roots
to run away and hide.

For you see, no longer did she feel
or see any beauty around.
The storms that came and went
only left her there to drown.

Warrior,

I always appreciate your words.  You are a wonderful poet.  I saw so much of myself in the line, "She was soaked with sadness."  That's how my 4-year-old inner child looks.  It's as if a giant storm has come and almost washed her away.  You describe what I have experienced.  Thank you.
