Deep inside her darkness
Her flame flickered in the wind
Like a tree that grows strong
She’d never break, but would bend

All her dreams had flown
On wings of a prayer and a song
But on her long journeys
She found no place she belonged

Rootless, she searched
Lost, she cried
Hoping, in vain
Broken, she still tried

The dolphin shed a tear
For the spirit that was lost
The wails went unheard
And through the clouds, she forgot

First north she flew
Then south towards sea
Turning east to the sun
Then west to be free

But the demons kept up
No place was safe
Try as she might
She could not escape

With the light fading
She fell to the beach
Weeping in pain
Aching for release

Her screams filled the night
And her sobs went unheard
Her grief unmistakable
Lashing out to the world

Invisible energies
Danced through her soul
Magically working
To bring her back whole

She hears a voice
That whispers in her ear
“I am never gone,
I am always right here”
